Tibetan Freedom Torch Arrives in Canada May 9-18

May 9 - Victoria, Canada

4:00 - 4:30 - Tibetan prayers and blessing at Mile 0
4:30 - 5:30 - The Torch will be run through the James Bay area (The first 10-15 minutes will be at a walking pace.)
5:30 - Ceremony at the Legislature grounds

Please join us at Mile 0 and/ or the Legislature. If you are a runner, we invite you also to participate in the run but please get in touch before the event at victoria(at)tibet.ca or 250-380-1235.

SFT Canada's National Director Deported from Hong Kong

SFT Canada's Tsering Lama and SFT International's Kate Woznow were deported with Matt Whitticase from Free Tibet Campaign from Hong Kong on May 29, 2008.  They had planned to enter Hong Kong to hold a press conference but Hong Kong authorities turned them away after hours of questioning.  They gave no reason for the deportation.

Friday, April 25, 2008: The abducted Panchen Lama's 19th birthday

Since March 10 of this year the global spotlight has been on China due to its crackdown on protesters in Tibet, but this recent series of events has been preceded by almost six decades human rights abuses perpetrated by the Chinese Government. On April 25 we will call attention back to the 1995 abduction of His Holiness the Panchen Lama and his family, when he was just a 6 year old child.
