URGENT: Take Action to Free Dhondup Wangchen!

China has charged Dhondup Wangchen, a Tibetan filmmaker, of "inciting separatism." He could be put on trial any day now and his lawyers have been barred from representing him, casting serious doubt over the trial's fairness.

Please TAKE ACTION for his immediate release.

Dhondup Wangchen was detained in Tibet in March 2008 after completing the ground-breaking documentary Leaving Fear Behind which depicts the true feelings of Tibetans living under Chinese occupation.

Take Action!

China: Stop the Crackdown on Uyghurs!

Chinese authorities have flooded Urumchi (Ch: Urumqi) in Chinese-occupied East Turkestan with troops following the violent unrest which started as a peaceful protest by Uyghurs on Sunday, July 5th.

Hundreds of people have been killed, but instead of taking responsibility for its decades of failed policies in East Turkestan that have fueled the unrest, the Chinese government is blaming the violence on the Uyghurs, arresting thousands, blocking phone lines and internet, and vowing severe punishment, including executions for those responsible for the unrest.  This will result in a massive military crackdown on the Uyghurs, similar to China's response to the March 2008 Uprising in Tibet.

TAKE ACTION: Sign the petition calling for an end to China's crackdown in East Turkestan and for and immediate investigation into the unrest in Urumchi.

The recent unrest in Urumchi clearly shows that China's policies in Tibet, as in East Turkestan, have been a colossal failure.
